POSITION TITLE: Information Technology (IT) Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
REPORTS TO: I.T. Group Leader

MAJOR DUTIES: The I.T. Specialist is responsible for the overall general maintenance of all Eclipse computer equipment and for the process of resolving identified technical problems that may exist within the company. The incumbent is also responsible for resolving or escalating Eclipse employee incidents throughout their lifecycle from submission/detection to fulfillment/resolution in a fast paced and busy environment, while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.


• Technical triaging, providing status updates and communications to management and end-users and acting as the IT Single-Point-of-Contact for customers to ensure they maintain maximum productivity
• Process emails, calls and interact directly with in-person walk-up requests.
• Install, upgrade and troubleshoot problems with Microsoft Windows, Office, Exchange, Active Directory, as well as VPN.
• Maintain password and data integrity of various systems; install, configure, troubleshoot and repair laptops, handhelds and other hardware peripherals
• Integrate BlackBerry client’s email account with BlackBerry services and install configured upgrades of BlackBerry Desktop and Handheld software
• Demonstrated proficiency in a broad range of IT activities as well as the ability to collect and organize information on a daily basis
• Ability to apply resourcefulness, research and problem solving skills to resolve complex issues
• Superior time management and multitasking skills are needed to succeed in the fast paced and busy environment
• Strong Interpretative and decision making skills are required
• Requires interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with others
• Previous VPN troubleshooting experience preferred
• Previous experience with a support ticket tracking system preferred
• Proven ability to follow policies / procedures, fulfill project initiatives, manage tasks of both self as well as others and provide reporting as required
• Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse corporate Vision
• Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
• Complete other duties and projects as assigned
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct Code


• College degree in a related IT Field or equivalent experience required

• 5 + years IT experience in a custom automation industry
• Knowledge of computer and laptop hardware components and experience diagnosing and troubleshooting both hardware and software issues
• Previous technical customer service experience troubleshooting Microsoft Windows products (Windows XP, Vista) as well as Microsoft Office (2003, 2007) are required
• Experience with Active Directory and Exchange administration required
• .NET Web Development, VBA, C#.NET, VB Script, Java, HTML, MS SQL Server, My SQL etc.
• Administration of networking infrastructures including firewalls, SAN/NAS, VPN, Exchange Server, WAN IPSEC, IIS etc.
