Project Manager

Position Title: Project Manager
Department: Project Management
Reports To: Director of Project Management

MAJOR DUTIES:
Provide leadership and coordination of project management functions. Work directly with applications department, customers and Project team to direct project scope and ensure profitability goals are met on budget. Work with the management and plant personnel to deliver the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct and coordinate project schedules and resource allocation within the individual project teams.
• Monitor and communicate the project scope to the project teams as well as updating entire project time of contract changes.
• Create and review project schedules with the customer and project team to ensure on time project delivery.
• Review initial project scope and buy in to project budget.
• Develop and manage project budgets and maintain project profitability.
• Manage company man hours versus projected project hours to maintain company optimum capacity work functions.
• Monitor all progress by the project teams on a daily basis, pinpoint possible issues with design, budgets, schedules and customers.
• Liaison between ALL departments to ensure on time delivery of purchased items and on time delivery of Eclipse machinery and equipment.
• Ensure contractual communication is clearly understood and the information is completely and clearly transferred from Applications thru to the Project Management then to the manufacturing group by using the ‘Open Book Project Communication’ method.
• Ensure all project binder and documentation is kept up to date.
• Co chair company’s project meetings to ensure all department leaders meet design specifications, schedules and project budgets.
• Review new projects with applications and department managers to allocate budgets and company resources.
• Ensure completion of all project contract deliverables through verification check lists.
• Ensure internal pre shipment check lists are complete
• Monitor and approve project purchases.
• Participate in the development of change order proposals.
• Promote environmentally and ergonomically safe conceptual product and/or processes to ensure safety of Eclipse personnel and the customer’s employees.
• Assist in the design evaluation of accepted project orders.
• Monitor and update project work-in-progress to report project profitability to accounting on a monthly basis.
• Communicate project invoicing to the Accounting department and ensure payment is received.
• Work with project team and supervisors to correct any potential issues.
• Represent the company at various business meetings to promote the company.
• Promote positive relations and open communication techniques with partners, customers, vendors, and distributors.
• Recommend and consistently administer policies, process flow and procedures to enhance operations.
• Support the Eclipse engineering technical terminology standards and standardization process and implement the same into your work practice.
• Ensure any Research & Development work per project is reported to the technical writer and documentation is recorded and photos of R&D changes are taken to support annual SR&ED claims.
• Review all projects at completion to pin point company issues.
• Monitor individual and departmental performance on a project level to identify department short falls and apply performance metrics against final execution.
• Recommend Eclipse Data Base improvements on an ongoing basis to increase efficiency throughout the company.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Maintain company confidentiality.
• Attend design review meetings to confirm project scope is met.
• Review and approve specific project and department personnel expense reports.
• Ensure services and products meet Eclipse Automation quality, safety and reliability standards.
• Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse corporate Vision.
• Promote Personal Development and Safe work practices.
• Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively with personnel, resolve and trouble shoot potential problems with supervisors.
• A need to be self motivated, a logical thinking individual, who is resourceful, reliable and composed
• Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse corporate Vision.
• Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
• Complete other duties and projects as assigned
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct Code

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Has successfully completed a University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Engineering / Robotics Automation Technology
• Education in Materials Management, Project Management or Business Economics would be an asset
• Is proficient with MS office based software, MS Project and AutoCAD. Capability to use Solid Works would be an asset

EXPERIENCE:
• 10 years experience in the custom automation industry within a supervisory role
• Experience in strategic planning and execution
• Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, accounting principles and sound business practices
• Knowledge of structuring resource planning and revenue expectations
• Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
