Quality Inspector- Afternoon Shift

POSITION TITLE: Quality Inspector
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager

MAJOR DUTIES: The Quality Inspector will perform inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/ or electrical measurements. The incumbent will work with production management to provide feedback regarding the accuracy of procedures while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.


  • Examine products and materials for defects or deviations from manufacturer or industry specifications
  • Work with quality engineers to determine best practices to control quality on the production line
  • Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintain the quality management system
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations
  • Engage in proactive measures, such as developing and implementing continuous improvement programs covering production processes and quality management systems
  • Work with members of the supply chain to ensure the quality of raw materials, components or sub-assemblies meets Eclipse’s quality standards
  • Work with Purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented
  • Agree on standards with suppliers and implement inspection processes to monitor incoming material.
  • Assist Quality Engineer when conducting supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
  • Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base
  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
  • Approve in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database
  • Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
  • Test the performance to determine if it meets manufacturer and industry standards
  • Rework or reject subassemblies or finished products as required
  • Conduct and document process and system audits using written procedures as audit standard
  • Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist Quality Engineer in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists
  • Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action

  • Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings safely
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met
  • Notify the appropriate departments if milestones are not met
  • Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy
  • Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse corporate Vision
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct Code
  • Foster the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business



  • Graduate secondary school education in QA/QC or related discipline at the College level
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in QA/QC role


  • Working knowledge of measurement instruments
  • Read and understand blueprints and specifications
  • Good arithmetic skills are required
  • Mechanical aptitude desired
  • General proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
