Quality Technician

POSITION TITLE: Quality Technician
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager

MAJOR DUTIES: The Quality Technician will perform inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/ or electrical measurements. The incumbent will work with the Quality Manager and various departments in maintaining the Quality Management System through the corrective action and continuous improvement processes. Work with Quality Engineering in creating and maintaining manufacturing inspection and test plans, and history files.

• Work with quality engineers to determine best practices to control quality on the shop floor
• Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintain the quality management system
• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations
• Engage in proactive measures, such as developing and implementing continuous improvement programs covering production processes and quality management systems
• Work with members of the supply chain to ensure the quality of raw materials, components or sub-assemblies meets Eclipse’s quality standards
• Work with Quality Engineer in creating and maintaining manufacturing inspection and test plans
• Update and maintain project history files
• Review and process shop mechanical and electrical drawings
• Work with purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented
• Assist Quality Engineer when conducting supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
• Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base
• Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
• Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database
• Periodically monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration
• Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
• Work with Quality Manager to conduct and document process and system audits using written procedures and the ISO 9001:2015 standard as audit standards
• Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner
• Assist Quality Engineer in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists
• Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action
• Maintain company confidentiality
• Promote personal development and safe work practices
• Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse corporate vision
• Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
• Complete other duties and projects as assigned
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct Code


• College diploma in QA/QC or related discipline 3-5 years’ work experience in QA/QC role

• Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of measurement instruments
• Read and understand blueprints and specifications
•  Arithmetic skills are required
• Mechanical aptitude desired
• General proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
•  Knowledge of Can 3 Z299 Quality Assurance Program requirements
•  Knowledge of MITP’s and history files
•  Auditing experience is preferred
